With 19 years of sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry, I am well aware of brand identity, having been involved in creating 3 individual brands for the Harrop Family of companies, most well-known for Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris.
I have an array of interests having done various courses over the years on management, sales and marketing, holding the position of Vice President on the Travelbags committee, right through to studying for my fellowship in graphology, ball room dancing, Toastmasters and Ice-skating. I have a natural love for life, people and experiences .
I have an associate degree in Speech and Drama attained through Trinity College of London.
Guest Speaker : Allon Raiz
Allon Raiz is the founder and CEO of Raizcorp, the only privately held, unfunded, profitable business incubator on the African continent, supporting in excess of 400 businesses.
Allon is the author of two bestselling entrepreneurial books, Lose the Business Plan and What to Do When You Want to Give Up. He has also hosted a radio show and written and hosted a prime time reality TV show, both in the field of entrepreneurship. Allon is also the creator of Carlson Dudtz, an entrepreneurial cartoon strip.
Allon is the co-founder of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation South Africa and Rural Roots, and sits on the advisory and judging boards of numerous local and international NGOs and entrepreneurial awards. Allon’s passion and focus on the development of entrepreneurs attracted the attention of the World Economic Forum (WEF) which, on 11 March 2008, awarded Allon as a Young Global Leader.
Paul Hobden has been in the internet industry for more than 12 years, having worked both locally and internationally. His passion lies in the opportunities provided by the internet to enhance all aspects of society from education and health through our social lives and of course the way we conduct business.
Paul joined the MWEB team in January 2012 as Portal Manager, where he was responsible for redesigning the MWEB portal and launching the Entrepreneur Zone, where he continues the drive to bring small business owners compelling content and resources.
With an obvious talent for conceptualizing and implementing new business ideas, it was not long before he was promoted and now heads up the Small Business division.
In his current role as Head of Small Business at MWEB Connect, Paul has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing a strategy which is targeted to meet the specific needs of small businesses, by providing excellent connectivity and associated products for SOHO (small office/home office) clients. Paul regularly presents Small Business Training Workshops – another initiative which was motivated by an obvious demand for knowledge based resources in the SOHO market. His experience spans the range from start-ups through to large multi-nationals and beyond the online space in technology and travel.
Paul holds a Bachelor Degree of Social Science (B.Soc.SC) from the University of Natal, and received a MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University whilst in the UK.
Raelene Rorke hails from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
She is founder of SpringAGE and an external consultant for Footprint, an Avocado Vision initiative that promotes financial literacy and other enabling life skills delivered in urban and rural communities countrywide.
Rae is passionate about youth development, and she has dedicated herself to inspiring the
SA youth and helping them to achieve their dreams. She believes that the country’s future growth is reliant on harnessing the potential of young people.
A career girl from the get go, Rae was a successful model, public speaker and performing artist, appearing in some of South Africa’s top teen magazines, in catalogues and on billboards. In 2004 she won the Miss SA Teen pageant, providing a platform for her voice to be heard on matters affecting the youth of South Africa.
As head girl of Sandown High School, she also worked closely with the Rotary Club and other
Organisations on the issue of alcohol and drug abuse amongst learners. She later teamed up with SANCA (SA National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency where she ran a campaign called “Value Yourself and Make a Healthy Choice. She soon became the ambassador for the ARA (Association of Responsible Alcohol use), taking the message to over 10 000 young people of South Africa and across the borders.
She travelled to Germany and was part of the team that received the handover for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
In 2006, she was crowned Miss City Press and launched the very successful City Press Book Campaign. Rae later began presenting PSL TV on Supersport and was a Miss South Africa finalist.
Whilst completing her Industrial Psychology and Organisational Development degree, Rae started working at Footprint, raising funds from corporate South Africa to roll out basic skills training and development workshops
Rae took on an honorable ambassadorial role, forming part of the South African marketing delegation in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. During the same year, she
Completed a development programme for the McDonald’s Fandancers who were featured
at the Confederations Cup 2009. The programme continued in 2010 where Rae led a 6-month life skills programme for young women chosen o dance at the FIFA World Cup at half time in 2010.
She attended her 2nd Davos, where South Africa had the opportunity to showcase investment and tourism opportunities.
Raelene has just returned from the World Economic Forum on Africa where she is part of the WEF Global Shapers Community for Johannesburg Hub, one of 228 Hubs around the world.

Lauren Fleiser had her first successful business at the age of 12. She has accumulated almost 25 years of hands on experience in owning and running operations in various industries, ranging from 1-man up to 100-man businesses. Driven by the reward of seeing results from implementing changes, Greg Mason is no stranger to success. His relentless quest to find better ways of doing things started in the 14 years he spent in the corporate world in the Financial Services industry.
Greg’s exposure to the broad concepts of business commenced when he was head hunted at age 25 to join a team of three people to launch a new Linked Investment Services Provider for a large Financial Services group from inception. This forced him to develop an understanding of all areas of business, although he eventually played the role of Chief Information Officer. Today, this business has in excess of R30-billion in assets under management, and employs over 100 people.
Having put all the necessary systems in place, Greg worked himself out of a job (his role has never been replaced) and moved to take over as Head of Change for one of the largest Financial Services Groups in South Africa. Here he worked with 12 different companies where he developed a passion for identifying challenges and obstacles in business, and implemented plans to facilitate change.
But the slow moving pace of the corporate world frustrated him. Always with an eye on the world outside of corporate life, he eventually took the plunge in 2007 and left the corporate world in search of a platform to assist other business owners who were serious about taking their businesses to the next level.
That is when Greg found ActionCOACH. A relatively new concept in South Africa, Greg was only the third coach to buy an ActionCOACH franchise in this country. On completing his training in Las Vegas on the ActionCOACH methodologies, Greg now operates as a certified business and executive coach, and draws on his diverse experience in business including accounting, HR, IT, strategy and business planning, change management, project management and programme management to assist businesses in identifying their business objectives and coaching them through a process to realise their potential.
Since commencing his coaching career, Greg has established himself as one of the top coaches in South Africa, having achieved a ranking of 3rd in Europe, African and Middle East and 31st globally.
